This phrase is from 'The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner'
In this poem mariner had killed the albatross for no reason. However he was fulfilled with guilt from the sin of killing the bird.when the weather was worsened he thought about the bird and understood that it was the bird which made the weather better. This is when the albatross seemed 'sweet'.This is why the Mariner says no sweet bird did follow.Hope the reference is clear. :)
