Every linear combination  acosx+bsinxacos⁡x+bsin⁡x  can be written as a phased sine wave

                     acosx+bsinx=a2+b2−−−−−−sin(x+φ)acos⁡x+bsin⁡x=a2+b2sin⁡(x+φ)

where  φφ  is the phase (which you can determine by the sum formula for sines),  and  a2+b2−−−−−−a2+b2  is the amplitude.
