HYDERABAD: Day temperatures decreased at many places across AP and Telangana due to pre-monsoon showers on Friday, providing relief to people from the sweltering heat. In Hyderabad, the temperature came down to 37 degrees Celsius from 43 in the evening. The city recorded 1 mm rainfall until 5.30 pm, and weather officials said intermittent showers are in store over the weekend and next week.
Nagarkurnool and Kondurg in Mahbubnagar district received 10 mm of rainfall. According to an IMD report, the maximum temperatures fell at one or two places in Telangana and AP. Rayalaseema was much cooler and several parts of the region received moderate to heavy rainfall. The IMD predicted heat wave conditions in parts of AP and T in the next two days.

About 30 people succumbed to intense summer heat on Friday with Telangana alone reporting 24 deaths. Meanwhile, heat wave conditions prevailed over many parts in Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam and Nalgonda districts of Telangana, and Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore in AP. The maximum temperature of 46 degrees was recorded at Khammam and Nalgonda in Telangana, and 47 degrees at Jangamaheshwarapuram in Guntur.
