Radish and Carrots are to different species altogether. Carrot belongs to the monophyletic clede Asterid while radish belongs to the Rosid clede. Radish grows to be pretty thick and round, carrots don't. Radishes can also thrive in tough soil conditions, where carrots normally wouldn't grow.
