Electric fuse works on the heating effect of electric current.when electricity passes through the wires it creates heat.fuse is made up of a low melting point.due to the heat created by the electric current, if excess current passes through the fuse, the fuse melts down and prevents excess flow of electric current...

this is how it works.......

The electrical fuse works on the principle of heat given off by electrical energy.
1. The fuse is basically a wire which is attached to two terminals of a casing. All the electrical current passes through it.
2. If the Current surges or the current is a lot, the fuse melts ( as it is a metal) and breaks the circuit , protecting the appliances of the house it is installed in.
