George’s first experience at rowing was not that great. He was sixteen when he first went near the water. He decided to row a
boat with eight other gentlemen of his age.
George said that the tide was quite rapid that day. They decided to take an eight-oared racing outrigger. He was given the
number four seat and then they started off. Things went pretty bad after he received a violent blow and felt as if his seat
had suddenly disappeared. It was not long when he was taken away by water. He hardly remembered anything after this
incident. It took around forty minutes for him to get back to the boat.
