The author found a small tin box with a piece of lined note paper sello-taped to its top. It's the Jim’s last letter that received on January 25, 1915. Most probably, it was put there by Mrs. Jim Macpherson, Jim’s wife as Her name and address were on the envelope inside the box.

A small black tin box.That's what was present in the secret drawer of the roll top desk made of oak.
To the author's utter surprise there was a piece of paper sell o-taped to the drawer's top.
It said."Jim's last letter,Received  January 25 ,1915. To be buried with me when the time comes.
It was put there by Connie Macpherson,Jim's wife.
