a-b=2---------(2)
2a=6
a=3
Substituting 'a' in (1),
3+b=4
⇒b=4-3
b=1

So,

a + b = 4 ------(1)                           (Adding both equations)
a - b = 2--------(2)

∴2a = 6
∴ a = 3
