Let Number of Rs 50 notes be x.  Then number of Rs 10 notes = (80 - x)

Let us express the value of currency notes we have in terms of their value.

50 x + 10 (80 - x) = 2,000

50 x - 10 x + 800 = 2,000

So,  40 x = 1,200

x = 30  of  Rs 50 notes

80 - x = 50  of Rs10  notes

Let number of 10 and 50 Rs notes be x and y respectively.
Therefore,
x + y = 80 and 10x + 50y = 2000

By elimination method,
50x + 10y = 2000
x + y = 80
50x + 10y = 2000
10x + 10y = 800
 40x = 1200
Therefore x = 1200/40 = 30.
Now substitute the value of x in equation x+y = 80
=> 30+y=80
y = 80-30 = 50
x = 50 and y = 30
The number of Rs. 50 notes (x) is 30
The number of Rs. 10 notes (y) is 50.
