A party is considered as a state political party if it secures atleast 6% of the total votes in a election to the Legislative Assembly of a state and wins atleast 2 seats .

A party is considered as a national political party if it secures atleast 6% of the total votes in Lok Sabha election or Assembly elections in four states and wins atleast 4 seats in the Lok Sabha
