Hybridization is the concept of mixing atomic orbitals into new hybrid orbitals (with different energies, shapes, etc., than the component atomic orbitals) suitable for the pairing of electrons to form bonds.
BeCl₂ 

Be has 2 pair of paired electrons and 0 pair unpaired electrons 

so 2 + 0 = 2 so the hybridization state is sp

It has a linear form and has a angle of 180°

1.Be has 1s2 2s2  electronic configuration .when Be is excited ,one of 2s electron goes to 2p level
2.the 2s and 2p orbitals then undergo hybridisation and produce two equivalent 'SP' hybrid orbitals
3.the two 'SP' -orbitals of Be get separated by 180 degrees
4.now each chlorine atom comes with its 3pz orbital and overlap with the SP orbitals of Be forming  two identical Be-Cl 
5.both the bonds are of same strength

2.B first undergoes excitation to get electronic configuration 1s2 2s1 2px 2py 
3. in B-atom  2s,2px,2py orbitals undergo hybridisation  and form three sp2 hybrid orbitals 
4.the angle between any two hybrid orbitals is 120 degrees 
5.each of sp2 orbital overlaps with 3pz orbital of a chlorine atom three sigma SP2-P bonds are formed
