Kahlil Gibran was an American writer,poet and artist of Labanese origin who write in both English and Arabic. He .as bornin Jan 1883 to a catholic family, in the town of Bsharri in  Lebanon.  As a young boy he has no formal schooling but had informal schooling on bible and Arabic language. He immigrated with his family to the United States. There he studied art and began his literary career, writing in both English and Arabic. In the Arab world, Gibran is regarded as a literary and political rebel. His romantic style was a deviation from the  from the classical school prevalant at that point of time. In Lebanon, he is still celebrated as a literary hero.In the English-speaking world he is renowned for his book The Prophet  in poetic English prose. Due to poor health he died at the age of 48.
