Let x be number of girls and y be the number of boys
x-y=6
 \frac{y}{x}= \frac{2}{5}
therefore let y=2a x=5a
x-y=6
5a-2a=3a=6
a=2
y=2(2)=4   x=5(2)=10
total students=4+10=14

Let the no. of boys be x
No. of girls=6 more than boys=x+6
According to the question
x/x+6=2/5                                                                            (by cross multiplication we get)
5*x=2(x+6)
5x=2x+12
5x-2x=12
3x=12
x=12/3
x=4
Hence the no. of boys=x=4
and the no. of girls=x+6=4+6=10
