Vanishing species are also called endagered species. One quarter of all mammals and one third of all amphibians(frogs, newts and toads) are threatened with extinction, partly because humans are destroying animal habitats faster than even before. When people turn forests into farms or towns, and pollute natural environments, like the oceans and rivers, and more animals die. some species are killed for their skins and body parts, which are used in some traditional remedies. Other creatures are simply hunted for food or collected as pets.
